Course Description:
Core Skills is designed to give you a "deeper dive" into each stage, step, and intervention that make up an "Emotionally Focused" approach to couple therapy. The first weekend of Core Skills covers Stage 1, the second weekend Stage 2 and working with attachment injuries. Core Skills combines more nuanced didactic teaching with much more experiential practice than the Externship. It is required for certification. Core Skills participants are encouraged (but not required) to show a video clip of their EFCT therapy.

Sam Jinich, PhD
Sam Jinich, Ph.D. is a Clinical Psychologist in private practice, licensed in California since 1995. Sam’s areas of professional practice include online psychotherapy, clinical supervision for therapists, and training mental health professionals to become Certified Emotionally Focused Therapists. Sam has expertise working with couples, families, and individuals experiencing emotional distress and/or experiencing a desire to deepen their understanding of themselves, live with more vitality, improve in the areas of parenting, communication, commitment, forgiveness, relationship-building, emotion-regulation and conflict resolution. Sam has been endorsed and certified by the International Centre of Exellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT) as a Certified Emotionally Focused Couple Therapist, Supervisor, and Trainer. Sam is the Clinical Director of the San Francisco Center for Emotionally Focused Therapy (SFCEFT) and of the Instituto de Terapia Focalizada en las Emociones (ITFE). Sam is active and engaging in his approach with clients.
